Creation-Care

Resources

interview by Diane J. McDougall

As with any resource, follow the advice of EFCA leader Josh Carroll (see “Creation-Care”): “Be discerning: The more liberal stuff that doesn’t put God first, toss it aside.”

  • For a list of denominational statements on the environment, visit www.acton.org and look at the “theology and the environment” page.
  • Check out a group that’s evangelical, environmental and active in world missions: Care of Creation (careofcreation.net).
  • To consider how stewardship of creation might affect our lifestyle and how we can advocate on behalf of those without a voice, visit Restoring Eden (www.restoringeden.org).
  • Check out The Green Bible (New Revised Standard Version) for highlighted Scriptures on creation-care, plus input from Christian conservationists, theologians and practitioners.*
  • Read a few publications on the topic:

    • Relevant (www.relevantmagazine.com)—print and online magazine written by and for 20-something Christians, and often addressing issues of environmental stewardship.
    • Creation Care—quarterly magazine published by the
      Evangelical Environmental Network
    • “Creation Care”—eight-week study from the Christianity Today Study Series*
    • Crunchy Cons: How Birkenstocked Burkeans, gun-loving organic gardeners, evangelical free-range farmers, hip homeschooling mamas … plan to save America (or at least the Republican Party), by Rod Dreher.
    • “Creation Care: An introduction for busy pastors” (available from www.creationcareforpastors.com) and Saving God’s Green Earth*, both by Tri Robinson and Jason Chatraw
